Recent News:Arizona officials continue to support the mining of uranium in Arizona. They are allowing new mining companies to mine approximately 1 million acres around the Grand Canyon. "Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich said new mines could bring much-needed jobs to the area, and he must fight for local businesses."-Cronkite News. The Havasupai tribe that borders the Grand Canyon is in full support of the Department of the Interior and the Grand Canyon Trust in their decision to go against the mining companies. Havasupai Chairman Rex Tilousi said, “We didn’t want any mines around our home because of the contamination,” Tilousi said. “I believe there are other ways we can get energy, either wind or solar.” The Grand Canyon is still at risk of the uranium mines that may be acted upon.
